We write these words in loving memory of Thelma Marie Labenski who passed away on December 16th, 2024.
Thelma was born in Waukegan, Illinois on August 27th, 1931. She was the oldest of 10 children. She left school when she was 16 to work as a nanny and housekeeper in Chicago. Later on she moved to Post Falls, Idaho to raise a family of her own. She worked many jobs as a single parent to provide for her four children, Barbara, Janet, Michael and Donald.
Thelma also lived in Austin, Tx and Salt Lake City, Utah where she enjoyed taking part in community and church activities as well as volunteer opportunities.
Thelma liked waffles but hated pancakes. She enjoyed winning at bingo and completing word search puzzles. She liked to watch old westerns and would tell stories about going to the movies for 25 cents. She was a pretty good cook. She once went to Hawaii and thought that was the best place ever. She was kind. She constantly made donations to the Indian Schools In Michigan, Boy’s Town and the Red Cross. She was quiet. She collected spoons and loved birds. She was a good person.
Thelma will be missed by her four children and her sister, Mildred Petticlaire as well as all the people that she met along the way. She was 93 at the time of her passing.
