Nancy Rose Park passed away peacefully on the afternoon of November 13, 2024, with loved ones by her side, she was 85. Nancy was born October 2, 1939, on the steps of the hospital in Stella, Missouri to Dorothy “Margaret” Mathis and Thomas “Bruce” Johnston. Nancy had an idyllic childhood chasing after her beloved older brother Bruce on their Mamaw’s and Papaw’s farm in Anderson, MO. In the late 40’s the family moved to Southern California, settling in the Lynwood area. Her brother Bruce quickly became immersed in the SoCal car scene and Nancy went along for the ride, becoming friends with some of the legends of the era. Nancy graduated from Lynwood High School in 1957 and rode away in her two-tone green ‘57 Chevy Bel Air that she received as a graduation present from her parents. She never lost her passion for cars and enjoyed going to car shows and reminiscing. A passion she would share with her children.
In January of 1960, she married Michael Allen Park, later divorced. In late 1960 they welcomed a daughter Michele and then sons David in ‘68 and Darren in ‘71. Together they built a successful real estate business and were prominent members of the Long Beach community. Nancy worked as an office manager, something she would do throughout her life in the real estate and insurance industries.
Nancy always enjoyed cooking and entertaining for friends and family. If you left her house hungry it was your own fault. She also loved to paint and do other crafts that she could share with loved ones.
In August 1966 Nancy and Mike joined the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and the family was later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple in January 1970. She enjoyed serving in many callings over the years and was a faithful member of the Church and follower of Christ.
In 1986 Nancy returned to California from Colorado to live closer to her mother and in 2001 she pulled up stakes and moved to Utah to be near her children and grandchildren. Time spent with “Grammy” was a cherished and coveted event for her many grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her children: Michele (Ed) Endemano, David (Richaile) Park, Darren (Kristi) Park, as well as her nephew Bruce E. (Brenda) Johnston. Her grandchildren: Edward (Kamille), Adam (Rebekah), Joseph (Janie), Seth (Karlie), Hannah (Matthew), Nathanael (Madison), Jacob, Enoch, Emma, Mykayla (James), David Jr, Bryanna, Joshua, Ashton (Kate), Annika, Ammon, Atticus, and Andon along with her 26 great-grandchildren. They will all miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents Bruce and Margaret Johnston, brother Bruce M. Johnston and many dear friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Sunridge Assisted Living in West Jordan and Beverly Aalders for taking such good care of our Mom/Grammy. We could also not have navigated the last several years without the assistance of our wonderful home health/hospice nurse Britanee Plascencia. Our family owes you a great debt of gratitude.
A memorial service will be held starting at 11:00 AM MST on Friday December 6, 2024, at 12232 S. 3200 W. Riverton, UT. A luncheon will follow where friends and family are invited to share stories about Nancy that will be recorded for her posterity. The services will also be broadcast here:
