Sharon N. Pain was born on March 29, 1958, in Acushnet, MA, to Ernest and Marie (Lil) Pain. She died on April 18, 2025, at the age of 67, with the music of Bob Marley playing in the background and family by her side. She was the youngest of 3 girls with sisters Lauren and Karen. When Sharon was 5 years old, the family moved from Acushnet to Manchester, CT, where we all grew up. Sharon was the athlete in the family, playing Little Miss Softball (because back then, girls were not allowed to play Little League). Sharon graduated from Manchester High School in 1976, shortly before our Mom passed. Sharon made it her mission to take care of our Dad, and she lived with him until she moved to Park City after graduating from Manchester Community College in 1978.
Being an adventurous spirit, Sharon moved to Park City, UT, which she made her home for the rest of her life (except for a year spent in Alaska and then another year in upstate California, but who’s counting). She loved her adopted hometown of Park City and all of the activities available in a resort town, whether winter, spring, summer, or fall. She was an avid skier, biker, and trail hiker, and she loved camping in the mountains and valleys. She was also an amateur photographer. Sharon loved to travel and has visited many spots all over the world. She recently took her first cruise with her sisters, visiting Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao, and swam with sea turtles. She was an avid sports fan, and she loved her Boston Red Sox!
Sharon made acquaintances easily with her quick wit and laugh, but when she trusted you and you became a friend for life, you could not ask for better. When you walked into her home or a meeting place, you always knew if Sharon was there because her infectious laugh would fill the room. Sharon would give the shirt off her back for those she loved. She was a server at many of Park City’s restaurants, including many years at The Corner Store and more recently at the Marriott. She also worked at Park City Magazine for many years as Production Manager, coordinating sales and graphic design for the magazine.
Sharon leaves behind her sisters, Lauren Troy (Mark, deceased) and Karen Gliha (Fred), nephews and nieces Dan Troy, Marie Troy Tripler (Nathan), Ryan Gliha (Danielle), Jaime Sullivan (Patrick) and Nissa Fiano (Chris), grandnieces and grandnephews Lilli Troy, Gavin and Keegan Tripler; Alivia, Addison, Everly and Lyla Gliha; Peyton and Brady Sullivan; and Scarlett, Violet and Vienna Fiano; and her great-grandniece Maliyah Troy. She also leaves behind her Park City Family, whom she loved without question. When Sharon passed, we’re sure she was guided by Mom and Dad, her brother-in-law Mark, and her love, Ralph, who guided her to the other side.
Special thanks go to all the physicians, nurses, and technicians at the Huntsman Cancer Center for their compassionate care of Sharon over many years. We would also like to thank all the physicians, nurses, and techs on the 9th floor oncology wing at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray for their loving care of Sharon and her family during her last hospitalization. Sharon was an organ donor – even cancer couldn’t take that away from her.
Services will be held at a later date in New England at the convenience of the family. A celebration of her life/going away party will be held at a later date in Park City with her PC family.
